what to expectAt Brownswitch Pet Hospital, we know that visiting the vet, especially for the first time, can be a little overwhelming. Our goal is to make each visit smooth, informative, and comfortable for both you and your pet. Here’s what you can expect:

Before Your Appointment

  • Schedule: Call us or request an appointment online. If it’s your first visit, we’ll gather some basic information to prepare.
  • Records: If your pet has previous medical history, please bring it with you or have it emailed ahead of time.
  • Arrival: Arrive 5–10 minutes early for check-in. Cats and small pets should be in secure carriers; dogs should be leashed.

When You Arrive

  • Check-In: Our friendly front desk team will greet you and get your pet checked in.
  • Comfort First: We do our best to minimize wait times and provide a calm environment. If your pet is anxious, let us know—we’re happy to help accommodate.

The Exam

  • Initial Questions: A veterinary technician will ask about your pet’s health, behavior, and any concerns you may have.
  • Medical Exam: The attending veterinarian will perform a thorough exam, explain findings, and discuss any recommendations or treatment options.
  • Diagnostics (if needed): If further testing is required (like lab work or x-rays), we’ll explain the process and get your approval before proceeding.

After the Exam

  • Treatment Plan: You’ll receive a clear summary of your pet’s visit, any medications prescribed, and home care instructions.
  • Follow-Up: We’ll schedule any needed rechecks or procedures and answer all your questions before you leave.
